[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to use, well-made, makes pasta making waaay easier.
I love my pasta maker and use it quite often. When making manicotti with my adult grandchildren there was black grease on either side of pasta sheet. We then noticed that the underside plastic rollers were cracked. Grease coming from gears?? I clean with brush every time and dislodge pieces of pasta by knocking gently on counter. We cut out the soiled pieces of pasta but that shouldn't happen. Next time I'll take photos. This is the underside. Seems like many people are having same problem. Am I the only one that has grease issues? Still love making pasta but sorry I have to do so much trimming.
I love the pasta roller and we use it a lot in our house. Unfortunately the last time I used it the shaft that rolls the rollers broke off. It looks like an easy fix as long as I can get the part. I've seen someone else have the same exact problem and I used their picture below.
I bought the 3 set pasta attachment a few years ago. The roller attachment has 2 plastic bars underneath which are cracked. We never used these attachments before - it has been stored in our cabinet for 2 years. Just as we are making plans to make pasta tomorrow I decided to inspect each attachment (3) and noticed cracks across the pasta roller section. This is very dangerous it can mix with pasta dough - someone can choke as they enjoy pasta. There should be a national recall for this part.
Broke early, on 4th use (gear broke), just with proper pasta recipe on first level- and can't get any spare parts or help. Expensive to be a short term disposable item! Really disappointed because I enjoyed using it while it worked…..
My husband bought me a three piece pasta roller and cutter set about three years ago. I used the roller once to make ravioli and we decided to move so it was packed up and has been sitting in my new pantry all this time as we do a major renovation on our new home. I was finally able to pull it out to make ravioli last week and after making one batch I noticed as I was cleaning it, 4 cracks on the plastic where the ejects. I am heartbroken!! Only two uses and it's broken! I haven't even tried the other attachments yet. Of course they are out of warranty. I own SEVERAL KitchenAid items (all in red) and I love them but I've been looking on the site to see if I can get replacement parts just for the broken parts but of course that doesn't seem to be an option. For the price of the equipment I would hope that it would last longer than two uses. Guess I have to resort to the hand roller now. Totally heartbroken.
Rolls the dough okay but is impossible to clean unless you get the wrenches out and take the unit apart. The safety guards tend to collect bits of dough. I called kitchen aid and their suggestion was to us a toothpick. Very stupid answer. You got the unit back.
We were so happy to be making fresh pasta but once the plastic insert cracked it no longer functioned. We have been loyal KA customers for many years. Customer service said it was impossible to replace the plastic part and that I would need to purchase an entire roller (which is still functional). This makes zero sense by todays standards. KA is encouraging wasteful practices, which we should not take lightly. Offering a meager discount is insulting to say the least. KA should provide quality products and practices.
I've owned this pasta roller for several year, but it was only used about 15-20 times. The rollers have plastic wipers that prevent the dough from sticking to the roller. However, they become brittle and crack over time, not use. Once the wiper cracks, the dough will become clogged in the roller and the attachment becomes unusable. Unfortunately there is no replacement wiper available to service the broken piece. Kitchenaid requires you to replace the complete attachment if it is out of warranty.
I've used this the roller a few times a year, so maybe 15 times since I purchased it. I've always used it, cleaned it and stored it with care and as intended. Plastic wipers have cracked and the large piece broke off rendering this attachment unusable (and therefore my other Kitchen Aid pasta attachments can not be used either as they do need the pasta sheets fed into their feeder). It seams that this is a common issue due to poor quality plastic. Kitchen Aid should have made a recall on this product or granted the simple and quick replacement to the customers that experienced this problem. I own numerous Kitchen Aid appliances and attachments, so I did spend a lot of money with the company. Warranty should not be used here as this is clearly faulty craftsmanship...
